Sally Mair - Loving life

By Sallymair

Wet Wednesday

It was dry this morning when I headed to church - just. I enjoyed the service and the calm in the middle of my busy week. I signed a couple more people up to the barbecue and at the same time picked up a couple more signatures for the leaving card.
There were 10 at the service which is around the same number as usual.
This afternoon we headed out to the Gyle to go to Specsavers to have my frames exchanged. I also picked up some socks at M&S.
While I was there I went into the vaccine centre to check what vaccines are in the pipeline for us now we've moved up a decade. We're too young for RSV, still not in the pipeline for Shingles although that may change next spring after the flu and COVID booster - for which we are eligible and should be receiving a letter about soon.
I dropped into Ali's on the way home with the meal delivery. Bonnie was tired but a quick food top up made all the difference.
We decided to head out to Karen's Unicorn Chinese Restaurant in town this evening. We used to go to it when it was in its previous location in St Leonard's St, think it was just called Karen's then, but that must be over 10 years ago. The restaurant blurb says the the name Karen comes from the Cantonese and means a woman who has a unicorn. That explains the name, as the owner is called Karen.
The food was very good, there's a huge range of Dim Sum which we always enjoy. The staff were very friendly and excellent but not intrusive service too so we were happy to leave a good tip.
My blip is the inside of the restaurant. We were lucky to get a seat as it was busy with mainly local Edinburgh people.
