Wound up in Wexford

New fire

Yesterday, I inserted an inflatable balloon up the chimney to seal it, prior to closing off the fireplace and fitting an electric fire.  Unfortunately, I clearly didn't inflate it enough, and last night, during the high winds which apparently were courtesy of Hurricane Ernesto, we heard a noise, and when I checked today, the balloon has disappeared - presumably it's now lodged somewhere higher up the chimney.  We'll have to get another balloon, and be more firm with the inflation!  And make certain we remember to tell anyone who might need to know that there's potentially a blockage higher up the chimney!

It's been raining again today, and we're promised more strong winds tonight!

We went for a hair cut this morning.

And I've had an afternoon doing digital housekeeping - I had more than 6 months worth of photos on my tablet and nowhere else.  They're now on my computer (which automatically backs up to the Cloud) and on a back up hard drive.  Meanwhile, W has been planning how we fit the new fire.  He's made a plywood insert for the fireplace, which he will paint matt black.
