Sleep

A big diversion today from my planned route. Dad has been in hospital for over a week and is very frail. He also has elevated infection markers. He is asleep nearly all the time, although he did wake up for 5 minutes on my first visit this afternoon, and recognised me (it’s always a relief). He cannot communicate, but I held his hands. My brother has visited during the week, and my sister and family are travelling here tomorrow for the day. Dad has “bounced back” before, but I’m not so sure this time.

I am staying here overnight and will visit early tomorrow morning. My accommodation promises me an extraordinarily restful night, and an extraordinarily reenergised next day. We’ll see.
