Tapas
During my morning video meetings, the man from the carpet shop came to measure our flat for new carpeting. It was interesting to hear his assessment of the current carpet, which seems to have been there since the flat was built. It's going to be more complicated than we initially thought, as fitting a new carpet will require shaving all the doors. The current carpet is very thin, and we want something that provides soundproofing and feels more comfortable to walk on. Our main concern was the fire door, but we can discuss that with the carpenter who is coming on Monday to fix the door closer.
During lunch, we watched Toby Roberts win Team GB’s 14th gold in Paris for 'sport climbing', which I didn't even know was a sport.
At the end of the day, we went to the tapas restaurant on the Esplanade. We weren’t sure what to do, and we’d always wanted to try this place. Now, we know we’ll be back.
We’d booked for 7 pm because we thought we’d eat early. I started with the sangria, which is always a delicious way to begin a meal, but the whole thing was delicious. I am not sure which was my favourite. The ‘Secreto Ibérico’ pork was so soft and tender I wondered how it was cooked. Apparently, the meat is imported from a specific butcher. ‘Creamed Spinach & Mushrooms’ was lovely. ‘Berenjenas Fritas’ was a crispy aubergine dish. I’d have the lot of them again.
We stayed until closing, ordering another glass of wine (or an espresso martini if you are PY) and soaking up the atmosphere. It was quite busy—a hen party came and went while we were there. When we left, we stopped off at the Ryde Castle for last orders.
