Solway Firth
Still technically in a yellow weather warning, but the worst of the bad weather was through the night and although breezy, the daylight weather is bright and good for exploring.
We took a trip to Wigtown, Scotlands National Book Town and spent a few hours looking for something unusual.
After a spot of lunch we put our walking boots on and explored the paths around town, learning about the Wigtown Martyrs and then seeing plentiful wildlife including a Wall Brown butterfly (extra). We also visited a cool ancient stone circle.
The weather warning made its mark though. A tree had blown down across the main road between Wigtown and our hotel. The detour added fifty minutes to a half hour drive. D’oh!
But after much trepidation about the weather we had a great day.
