Caerlaverock Castle

Another weird weather day on this trip.
It was blowing a gale with horizontal rain when we went down for breakfast and blue skies by the time we had finished.
After check out we headed for Dumfries and visited the house where Robert Burns lived. Its then a short walk to the Burns mausoleum in St Michael’s churchyard. There were helpful volunteers in both areas with plenty info, the headstones in the churchyard were quite imposing, reminiscent of the Glasgow necropolis.
Later we visited the picturesque Caerlaverock Castle, took our time exploring and then headed for home.
I’m looking forward to a day of no driving tomorrow.
