Coles at Gardie
A beautiful sunny morning, clouded over couple of light showers. Cleared into blue skies and sunshine in the afternoon and evening. Calm to breezy.
Up early, a brisk morning walk before breakfast, then packed up the caravan. Nipped to Cullivoe for more gas, then caught the ferry to Unst. Set the caravan up at Uyeasound, walkies again before lunch. More walkies with Sammy in the afternoon. Popped up to see sis Julie and family, they cooked us tea. An evening chatting around the table. Off to the pub for a couple of pints with them too.
A better day for exploring today, keeping the walkies gentle for Sammy. We headed along the banks from the caravan, cut through a field to join in with the road. As we came along, a once common sight, now rare, was straight in front of us. Not only a lovely sight to see, but the coles of hay smell amazing too, it really brings back happy memories working on the croft. This old methods are much better as those horrid smelly plastic wrapped silage bales. Looking across the coles of hay, towards Gardie and Roonan, Uyeasound, Unst.
