Multiplicity
A fun day in the capital city at festival time.
We started with a coffee with T's dad & brother and then headed into town. First up
was a person show (a solo storytelling show to be precise) by P (one of T's nephews) exploring creativity. Good fun.
We then met D before heading into to see Apricity - an acrobatic show from Australia which I rather enjoyed. Some dramatics stunts bur presented in an engaging understated way.
We then trusted to serendipity and googled shows near us now which took us to Radio Octave - a capella singing from a Nottingham students. There was something rather endearing about their performance.
Having sampled the fringe we then sampled a fish supper in George Square of which there was no paucity of chips. So much so neither of us could finish our helpings.
Then we were off to the main event - our single International Festival Show and one of only three dance shows which it features this year: Assembly Hall at the Festival Theatre (wouldn't it be great if there had been show called Festival Theatre on at the Assembly Hall at the same time ? ). This was a dance show by Crystal Pite and Jonathan Young. I wasn't quite sure what to expect but it certainly wasn't out loud laughing. It was a highly entertaining and clever piece with synchroncity between dance and meeting agendas and minutes (yes, really) interspersed with wonderful dance tableau. Really enjoyed it.
