Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

2024 Thursday — Concert in the Meadow

This afternoon Mr. Fun & I were at Stolo Family Vineyard in Cambria about 12 miles north of Cayucos for the free Thursday afternoon summer concert. We brought food for a picnic dinner (tuna sandwiches, low-sodium chips, and Trader Joe’s cookies). This is our fifth or sixth summer enjoying weekly concerts at Stolo.

The venue is beautiful— Music in the Meadow — and a beautiful meadow it is. We both thoroughly enjoy being outdoors, and most of all we enjoy the live music. The band mostly played their own tunes. The two of us have noted that when a band plays their own songs, the audience realizes the opportunity to talk within their groups. So, all throughout the meadow people were enjoying conversing with one another.

Everyone brings their dog (we do too, but after they walk thru the meadow before the concert, then it’s back to the car for a nap). We have a very good time with all those other people; complete strangers, but so fun to share a concert with them.

And this afternoon we were joined by "Palm Desert" Pete and his wife Cindi. We first met them not quite two weeks ago at Tidelands Park in Morro Bay. They are here on the Central Coast vacationing for a month to get out of the heat and then back to Palm Desert. They also have been attending Stolo concerts for the past five or so years.

The final song was sung at 6:00. Then south to home for sundown.
