The Mansion House

The mansion house in Aden Country Park was once the magnificent centre piece of the Russell family's estate. The grey granite mansion was built around 1758 then extensively remodelled in 1832 and is possibly on the site if a much earlier castle.
Following a decline in the Russell's fortunes they sold the estate and during WW2, the mansion, like many other 'big houses' was used as a billet for troops.and fell into ruin.
