Mains of Pittendrum

This typical 18th century laird's house was built by the Cumines when they abandoned nearby Pittulie Castle around 1734. Their Jacobite sympathies are made explicit by the mouldings - thistle and white Jacobite rose- flanking the family coat- of-arms in the pediment above the front door.

In recent times the now abandoned house has been home to an alleged Indian Princess and briefly used as self catering accommodation and a target for local vandals.

It is, of course, also alleged to be haunted.
