Devil’s-bit Scabious in Stirling’s King’s Park
On an early morning pre-work walk with my wife in Stirling’s King’s Park today, we reached our favourite part of the walk at this time of year. It’s an area on the north side of the Park, a little rabbit- grazed meadow which has been colonised over the past few years by thousands of devil’s-bit scabious plants (scientific name, Succisa pratensis). For a few weeks in late summer, the meadow has a glorious purple-blue sheen.
