It’s Raining Again

Of course it is. It’s a Bank Holiday weekend in the Lake District. What were you expecting in the middle of summer? A warm sunny day perhaps? Judging by the number of depressed looking holidaymakers around, I have a feeling they were expecting something better than torrential rain, high winds and temperatures in the low teens. And all the time thinking they could probably have gone to Benidorm for the same price.
I write this with a hint of smugness though. By getting up early, Mrs C and I were able to complete our usual Sunday stroll (with added coffee and cake) and only encounter a couple of short showers and some light drizzle. Convenient trees gave shelter from the former and our waterproofs dealt with the latter. By the time the torrential rain arrived, we were safely ensconced indoors with no plans of setting foot outside for the rest of the day.
Had to put a warm jumper on though. It’s quite cold in the house, thanks to the wind and rain, but I refuse to turn the heating or fire on before the end of September!
