The Bramble King

My son-in-law told my daughter about an event taking place in their local hall where an expert would value and buy antiques and collectables. She got excited and thought we might be able to get rid of some stuff out of our shed. Sadly she discovered at the last minute that they weren't interested in breakables, which is a shame as it's crockery and glass that we've got most of.

She took a Picquot Ware set from the fifties that is made from brushed aluminium but he offered her a pittance for that. She offloaded some EPNS which will keep her in wine for a while.

I hate brambles, they're gradually taking over here which I find quite depressing. Catherine Fisher's poem The Bramble King sums this up. The blackberry crop is very good this season. This green shieldbug nymph was enjoying the sunshine on the berries.

Fingers crossed that all the festival goers will have left the family nursery this evening.
