After the short visit, the long drive home

I’m not sure any of us sleeps well in Sundridge: the house is old and dusty, and tends to retain the heat. We made a hasty departure, being on the road at 9, the car packed and our various cleaning chores done.

Very quiet roads, and we made it back to Ottawa in a little over 4.5 hours, and that includes a stop at Tim Hortons in Mattawa, and Subway in Deep River. Ottawacker Jr. managed  good sleep in the back for the final leg.

Home to the cats and I watched the re-run of the Liverpool vs. Brentford match, which had just ended as we arrived, and which Liverpool won 2-0. It was probably the feed, but it seemed a little flat, and I can’t get myself excited by Arne Slot just yet. It’s the comparison with Jürgen Klopp, of course. I read someone describing him as “your mum’s new husband”. Pretty appropriate, you want to like him, but he’s not your dad.  I just hope the players are more mature than I am. (Given that Ottawacker Jr. is more mature than I am, it is a distinct possibility.)

Drove Ottawacker to his goalkeeping practice, then cooked dinner of pork tenderloin and salad.
