Summer is still here

Reasonably good sleep, although at one stage I dreamt I was being serenaded by a loud band of hummers. I woke up, and found out it was Ottawacker Jr.’s ceiling fan. Try explaining that to a psychologist.

Spent the day pretty much in front of the computer. Ottawacker Jr. got the urge to go and pick up some shopping for us – so we sent him off on his way (see blip).  It felt weird. While he was gone, I found out that the New Zealand contract was being halved. They have no money and no clients. Part of me feels that is entirely their own fault – it is supposed to be a business improvement resource but they pay no attention to their own business – and part of me feels sorry for them. It’s a brave idea – but relying on the probity of Middle East contractors is always a risky business (and, yes, I’ve also been stung in the past), even when they are federal institutions. Let’s face it, you can’t spend all that money breaking Financial Fair Play rules in the Premier League and then expect to have stuff left over for bread-and-butter contracts.

Mid-afternoon, got suddenly motivated and attacked a pile of chores. Ottawacker Jr. was out on his bus rides – we may never see him in the house if this continues – and I got a series of calls from Hurdman bus station, from Billings Bridge, from the No. 7 bus on the way to Carleton, from the Saint-Laurent shopping mall. As long as the rides are free, go for it…

Other than that, it was an itty-bitty day. I cleaned some of the pictures and frames we salvaged from Sundridge – it’s nice to have something from the house you grew up in, even if it is financially worthless – and bought Ottawacker Jr. a surprise camera. It’s very cheap and there  is no phone attached – but he can learn to frame shots on this point and shoot. He has no idea he’s getting it – and I have no idea how long it will be a “passion”. But if you start seeing a stream of consciousness blipper posting solely about bus rides and planes, then you’ll know it has been a huge success.

What do you mean the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree?
