I am being constantly serenaded by bellbirds in the kowhai and kakabeak trees just outside the truck.
Initially it was a single bird called for a mate: a piercing single note repeated over and over again.
Thankfully after two days it worked, and two birds are now warbling much more melodiously, although they are still quite piercing.
It is lovely to have a nesting pair. They first arrived four years ago and I am still excited that they call it home.
They are one sign of spring. Another sign is the lengthening days. This photo was at 4.45pm: a time at which gloaming is just starting in mid-winter. And today there was real warmth in the sun as Bean and I lounged on the guest cabin deck, from where the shot was very lazily taken.
There was no consideration, no composition for today's Blip. It really was point and click. It turned out pretty well in the circumstances.
