Tiny Tuesday: Wood

Another in the theme of 'trees' from MaryElizaR for Tiny Tuesday; this week the subject is wood.  This carved driftwood hornbill is something I bought on a holiday in Namibia several years ago; it is quite light which suggests that the piece of wood had been drifting in the ocean for a long time before being found and used for this carving.

There were lots of carved wood items for sale all over the country but the majority had that look of being mass produced, if not in a factory somewhere, then certainly from standard patterns for the tourist market.  We bought one or two of those but this appealed because it looked as though an artist had seen something in the shape of the wood and created the hornbill with minimal work involved.
