Park of Keir cancelled- official
Well, we are delighted with the news that the developers have finally withdrawn their plans for a Park of Keir tennis centre, the proposed legacy for Andy Murray by his mother, Judy, because of spiralling costs.
From a business point of view it was always a no-brainer- our campaign had the plans analysed by an expert over ten years ago.
But it was driven by Judy Murray, using social media and celebrity culture , to try and build a tennis centre in a Greenbelt, an iconic landscape separating Dujnb lane and Bridge of Allan, which incensed the local communities and resulted in a Public Inquiry which found in our favour, only to have it overturned by Nicola Sturgeon ( remember her? the First Minister with some peculiar financial arrangements regarding a motor home), who happened to be a close friend of Judy Murray.
Green MSP Mark Ruskell, a keen supporter of our campaign , always said it was a “ vanity project in the wrong location.”
Time proved him right.
