Game, set and match
Well, let's hope this game is finally over after the attempt by Judy Murray to build a tennis centre on Park of Keir as a legacy for Andy Murray. It's gone on for over 12 years and we locals all knew it was a front for luxury housing which several developers have been trying for over thirty years to get permission to build on the Greenbelt.
Unfortunately Judy Murray did not realise she was being used as a Trojan horse for this abortive venture. We understand she had the use of some of the land for her tennis centre on condition there was also planning permission for the rest of the site which included the hotel and luxury housing.
A similar tactic was used by a developer near Glasgow- a golf course with luxury housing. Once the golf course failed to generate enough income it turned into luxury housing.
We feared the same fate awaited JM "legacy" once it proved to be not sustainable.
Thanks to community activism and spiralling costs it did not happen.
Let's hope this whole unsavoury episode is finally laid to rest and they find a something more appropriate as memorial to Andy.

PS Check out the comments in the link above for reactions from locals- 99 per cent opposed the development.
