Insect killer

I saw some ticks on the deer back here a few weeks ago, and I've come back in the house with a tick crawling on my pants after I dropped off the compost. I looked up pet-safe tick killer and found a brand that was at Lowe's, so I bought that and a spreader.

This photo is just before I spread it. After spreading it, I wet the area down with the hose. I hope it works. Also, I need to buy a hose reel. 150 feet (45 meters) of hoses is really hard to manage.
