Day One: Piazza San Pietro (at night)

After two taxis, one plane and an enormous queue at passport control we finally arrived in Rome for the start of the holiday. The view from the apartment is the impressive edifice of the Vatican museums (which we have booked to visit on Friday) and it's a short five minute walk to St Peters square which was impressive and peaceful late in the evening...think we will be taking some more evening strolls out to this spot over the next week. The weather is even hotter than home and the air conditioning and fans in the apartment are most welcome.
