SUNFLOWER 'VAN GOGH'
I must admit that I am not one to cut flowers from the garden for indoors, except to use as my Blip, as I would rather see them in their setting outside, but yesterday, as I looked out of the conservatory window, I decided that it was time to bring these sunflowers in. The main reason was that they stubbornly refused to face us, so out I went with my secateurs and snipped the four I have used as my Blip for today so that we can enjoy them indoors.
Fortunately, Mr. HCB keeps most of the seed packets, so I was able to ascertain that this was Sunflower “Van Gogh”. Of course, I’m sure I don’t need to tell you that Vincent Van Gogh was a prolific artist and there are many references to him on Google. Not being an artist myself, I did browse some of these and was surprised to see that according to some pages from Mr. Google, Van Gogh’s most famous painting was “Starry Night” - but others say that his “Sunflowers” paintings were his most famous; I must admit that I favour “Sunflowers”.
Our visitors yesterday liked my arrangement of sunflowers but I have taken the shot today - in keeping with the ethos of Blip - and hope you will enjoy them too. The vase was given to me by a dear friend, who used to be a Blipper - and that’s how we first met - who is formerly from Pakistan who now lives in America with her husband, so I dedicate these lovely sunflowers to Marylou.
Another busy day today, so an early Blip - I know it rained heavily in the night and it is quite a grey day so far, but perhaps it will change later - we can always hope.
Take care and enjoy what is left of the summer - the mornings are definitely more autumnal at the moment but rather than bemoan that fact, let’s celebrate that it will give us all lots more Blip opportunities. M xx
