Westminster Cathedral

I can see the campanile of the cathedral from today's office kitchen. The trains are out all week from home into Victoria so my Victoria M&S trip (to buy meals for my neighbour) had to happen at lunchtime as I didn't pass by it this morning. A colleague came along. She's Catholic and has fond memories of the cathedral from years past. It was lovely to make a brief visit into the cool (and massive) interior to light a candle for her parents (their wedding anniversary is today) and take a peek at the shiny gold mosaics.

The working day was fine. I'm tying up loose ends before my final office day on Thursday and all is on track.

The journey home wasn't fun (I'm not going to miss the commute). The bus was overcrowded, no doubt not helped by the train line being shut this week. At Vauxhall, I got a seat, but the upper deck was very noisy and hot. At Brixton, we witnessed a fist fight in the road between a van driver and a cyclist. Passengers hazarded a guess that the driver has clipped/knocked over the cyclist. All traffic stopped. Most passengers stood up and gawped. I willed the bus to carry on, which it did, leaving the brawl and making the bus gawpers sit down and pay attention to their reels, stories, news, games, etc.

Finally, back home and I grabbed a takeaway from Tickle Me Vegan at the end of the road for a quick and delicious scoff before going to see Sing Sing at the cinema. It wasn't quite what I expected from the trailer, but a much more enjoyable film for it. I really enjoyed it – had a tear in my eye at times.

It's cinema day this Saturday – tickets £4 or £6 in participating cinemas. I saw Equalizer 3 at Leicester Square last year, which was fun. This year, I'm not so sure. Despicable Me 4 is a likely candidate.
