Butterfly cake

We have been in Manchester for the day, to have the grandchildren while Miss H had a couple of appointments. Libby had seen a butterfly cake in a library book and had told her mum she wanted to make it with grandma.

We had great fun, the glacé icing is made from blackberries foraged by them earlier in the week, and tasted delicious. It looked just like the one in the book, and as we said it was the best butterfly cake in the whole wide world.
