Listening to Coach

Landon’s soccer team had a special coaching session this evening at a local elementary/middle school.

Fascinating to see the great variation in listening to Coach and responding to instruction. Some tried hard to practice the skills, others had less of a clue. I dare say practice will bring dividends.

Two other points to make. The facilities in this school are better than I’ve ever seen in any UK school. Football and soccer pitches, basketball courts, baseball diamonds, a running track and field field facilities, lots of portable stands, just acres of space. And I’ve not seen inside.

And, in the background houses perched on the hillside and at the top of the ridge. It’s a feature around here that many hilltops are adorned with huge houses which create necklaces of light in the nighttime skies. I’ve yet to find a suitable location to capture the drama, scaleand extent of these hilltop eyries.

These houses are quite tame compared with some nearby with far reaching views east and west from their lofty perches. What would most concern me would be the consequences of an earthquake on these properties.
