A beautiful piece of Kauri
We bought a long, thick and rather narrow slab of Kauri a long time ago. We thought we could turn it into a table top. But one end was a sloping cut, and it was too narrow to be a table top. Cutting it in half and joining the two halves would produce a table too short and too wide. Nothing was done as most of the time we didn't think about it.
The same careful wood-worker who produced a lovely table top out of fence posts, created the bench top with a shelf underneath, and a couple of shelves for the other wall out of our Kauri slab
