Ladies View
We all had a lovely day.
We dropped R at a cafe at the bottom of the Gap of Dunloe. She was planning to walk up, then back and probably get a bus or taxi back into Killarney.
Plans change.
We drove up and over the Gap. As we came down the other side, I saw a sign suggesting a walk down to a boat, which would then take her into Killarney. I messaged her - she'd already found out about it - I was able to assure her the walk down was scenic.
We then drove on, stopping at a lovely little cafe called Killing Time, run by a retired composer and college lecturer from the US. Then a back road to Sneem. Sneem was a delightful small town - rather touristy, but with a small sculpture trail that included a series of structures called "The Way the Fairies Went" that was attractive, and we loved the way it slotted in to the natural rock surroundings.
As we were driving from Sneem towards Kenmare, a message from R. What neither of us had realised, there's only one boat a day, leaving at 1400. She missed it!
We arranged to meet at Ladies View - only another 90 minutes walk for her!
We stopped in Kenmare to visit a stone circle, and then drove on up to Ladies View. We arrived just 10 minutes before R - good timing for getting tea and cake ready for her arrival. She had walked about 15 miles, and still looked remarkably sprightly as she walked up the road to meet us.
Modern communication allows such great flexibility.
