The coolest movie star that there has ever and will ever be is Steve McQueen.
Master of drawing focus (see any scene of The Magnificent Seven where he is the background) and letting actions speak louder than words, McQueen’s impact on a young and impressionable dunkyc is immeasurable. He also got to drive the coolest car ever; the Ford Mustang GT fastback.
You can imagine my joy then at stumbling across this self same vehicle parked outside an inauspicious cafe in Edinburgh. A joy only enhanced by m’boy’s own at seeing such a beautiful machine. Seeing the pair of us drooling over it, the owner - who happened to be sitting outside the cafe - offered us a seat in the car and before I could accept m’boy was in and….well, the extra says it all really!
It was the perfect end to our slightly stressful time in Edinburgh city (couldn’t find anywhere to park the van and ended up in a low emissions zone - d’oh!) on our last day of holiday. We did find an awesome crazy golf course (extra) and went to Nando’s for the first time ever - we were all underwhelmed and baffled by the fuss that surrounds the place.
We then head a brief shop around the heaving city and picked up a cool t-shirt and some books from the gorgeous Waterstones they have there.
Then it was back to the van, and a very nice drive home in the company of each other and the event present; Cabin Pressure.
It’s been a lovely holiday, just over way too soon!
Aren’t they all?
