FIGGY's Sporadic Blips

Amber Nectar

Glen Garioch (pronounced Geery in the ancient Doric dialect still spoken in these parts) is one of the oldest and most easterly distilleries in Scotland. It has been making its malt in the historic market town of Oldmeldrum, near Aberdeen since 1797.

Shielded from the world's prying eyes, deep in the fertile Aberdeenshire countryside, and only ever produced in small precious batches, Glen Garioch is a rare hearty Highland malt, non chill-filtered as nature intended, with a honey and malt flavour.

We enjoyed a great visit to Glen Garioch Distillery where we renewed an old friendship with an ex work colleague of MOH's who we hadn't seen for 15 years. We found out he now works as a tour guide at the distillery and arranged to surprise him on one of his tours.

He didn't recognise us at first but we soon picked up where we had left off all those years ago and had a great visit. We left with bottles, glasses, and souvenirs and a promise to be in touch soon.
