Ex cherry
I was very sad when the builders told me my cherry tree (here, towards the end of the garden, two years and three months ago and here, bearing fruit, the year before that) had to be chopped down as it was in their way. I knew that the apple tree next to the house had to go but I really hoped they could save the cherry.
Today I dug out the stump. That, and its roots, were deeper than the picture makes it look, so it was hard work. Next to it are the tools of this trade, along with the rubble, the metal and the other roots that also came out of the dig, some being convolvulus which I am quite convinced is generated in the earth's core.
