If you can't beat them...

Xanthoria parietina

Prepping the Lodge but in a lazyish slow way.  We have booked this week for maintenance our next guests arrive on Friday.  This week there was a walk to the bins so this is a "walk to the bins" blip.  I will forgive them for not taking things to the bins as they left a lovely comment in the visitors book and bought one of the supporting Red Squirrels calendars.

I am fairly certain this is X parientina the alternative would be X polycarpa.  If you happen to know which it is do either confirm or put me right.  Parientina is very widely distributed being described as Urban, Rural and coastal.  It seems to grow on most substrates e.g. rocks ,walls, trees, rooves etc.  It is said to grown on "nutrient enriched" trees e.g. Elder.  I don't know if Hawthorn falls into this category but it was growing thickly on a Hawthorn bush.
