A Birthday Dip
This is the second day of sunshine for Stromness- not quite as convincing as yesterday and much windier , but I have no complaints.
There was a celebratory swim for Heather’s bus pass birthday before she goes on holiday to Europe and the elements cooperated. It was a roiling, rolicking sea and we were bounced about in the waves . No one ventured far from the buoy possibly because we were all having too much fun or possibly because an earlier swimmer had noticed a lion’s mane jelly fish a little further out. We all sang Happy birthday and were rewarded with mouthfuls of sea water.
I was in no hurry to jump up and do anything when I returned and it was lovely to sit in the sun at the window, drink coffee and just ‘be’. The trouble is I can ‘just be’ for longer than is good for me, so eventually I went out for a walk. I’d like to say I walked for miles into the hinterland of the town but in truth I walked along to the Co op to buy a can of gin and tonic. That’s only the second alcoholic snifter in 4 weeks, the first being a glass of wine ages ago.
Now that I’m back in the sun in the garden looking at a restless blue sea full of white horses,I ’m wondering whether or not to have a wee swally now or keep the can for later. To be decided….See extra!
