Screen Grab
Getting all nostalgic there. Well, we were, the kids were just getting a bit freaked out at our antics back 20 plus years ago. Everybody had a shell suit it would seem.
Heather's found a box of old VHS taped home movies and tracked down a VHS recorder to play them back. Amazingly they all seem to still function. Forget all your HD iPhone mpegs and smartphone avchds, this was grainy low res video recorded on a trusty old Sony video camera that was the size of a bread bin and the weight of a couple of bricks. Press pause and the whole screen jumps around like a flip book, fast forward and behind the noise of an aircraft starting up scan lines flick up and down across the screen and you can barely make out a thing to see where you are.
It seemed back then I recorded mostly everything. Kind of a low-tech animated blip journal. This motley crew consists of various brothers and sisters and their partners drunkenly singing along to a cheesy Karaoke tape (VHS too that was I think) of 'Kissin' and a Huggin' with Fred'. Pure class, but just be glad you can't hear it.
Not sure what the shelf life of videotape is so now need to track down the DVD recorder and see if I can get some of those E180s archived before all that magnetic tape disintegrates.
