Sunday: Gardening for Nature

Grey and overcast when we got up at 7am, but forecast was for rain and maybe thunderstorms later.

MrD cut the grass and I potted up some “Hurst Greenshaft” peas which had been soaking overnight. My daughter had collected some Red Clover seeds on a walk when she was visiting, potted those up too. Pricked out Cauliflower seedlings and sowed some Welsh onion seeds and some mixed Calendula, which I’m hoping to over winter in the greenhouse for any hibernating pollinators …

We had a couple of rain showers early afternoon, it stayed grey and overcast. Late evening now and we’re having heavier rain, which is fine by me :-))

Between showers this afternoon I wandered around the garden and found that the cabbage white butterflies have been busy on the perennial kale, as they had been earlier in the year -
