Peribirthday.....
.....Owen arrived from Embra on the train and I whisked him back home to begin Nancy's unbirthday celebration.
First, the Dryburgh Abbey Hotel for afternoon tea (rather good, although training for the young staff appears to focus on how to throw plates, cutlery and food on to the customer's table from a distance). Whilst munching on a crustless cucumber sandwich , I noticed Team Soudal Quick-Step arrive in their truck, bus and many cars.
Then to The Cross Keys at Ancrum. A traditional border pub with excellent locally brewed beer on a hand pump and better than average pub grub. Our marathon game of doms was only interrupted by the fetching of rounds, toilet stops and a bowl of cheesy chips for three to share.
I was on the zero percent beers so we headed back to Tweedbank to drop-off Owen for his journey back to Embra before we arrived back home, ready for bed.
