As expected, today was cloudy and drizzly all day long. We have come on holiday to the only place in Britain where it's not sunny, for the only week in the whole of July when it's not sunny. Never mind, I'd rather be here than sweltering in 30-plus degree heat in London! We had a nice relaxing day spent mainly around the cottage. We did some drawing (invitations for the Lego Harry Potter party Orla has decided she wants to have for her birthday), read Orla's atlas, played some games and watched a DVD on the laptop (We Bought a Zoo). Ed and Orla made and flew some paper aeroplanes in the afternoon. We did get out for lunch at the Salen Hotel. Ed and I both had fish and chips. The fish was huge. I enjoyed it, but in retrospect the batter was very fatty and I am paying for it now. I baked a loaf of bread for our dinner (with cheese and pate). Conor has been practising his standing up skills. He is very proud of his achievements.
