A morning of mixed
blessings with a doctor and
a Supreme Court Judge
~carliewired
The morning began beautifully as it usually does in Kamloops. I was out on my deck getting my first photo of the day with my mountains as the main focus at 6 AM.
I needed to be at the hospital for a doctor's appointment for my cranky feet. At 7:30 I was driving into the parkade hoping to get a parking space before they were all gone. I arrived early to my 8 AM appointment so I was actually back in my car to drive away at 8:05.
The good doctor was very gracious, but he has no magic to offer me. He has suggested that I go in search of some different foot wear to give me more comfort. I will do that. I need all the help I can get.
With so much time left over for me at the hospital, I had time to go back home to pick up my daughter who was going to accompany me to the Supreme Court for 9:45 AM.
We were given very short notice to attend this hearing. (Notice given on August 26) There was no time for our legal council to form a proper response, so we attended to give voice to our side of the argument pending a fuller response from our lawyer.
I gave an eviction notice to a tenant at the beginning of July. The case was heard by the Residential Tenancy Branch on August 2. The tenant was evicted, ordered to pay the rent owing and I was provided with an order of possession. The tenant was to leave on August 19. I did witness a moving van and other vehicles at her home on August 15, but she continues to occupy the unit.
The tenant has launched this court action in hopes of having the decision of the Residential Tenancy Branch overturned. Today, she was granted a two month stay on the proceedings to give time to launch an appeal and hear from all sides. I am very hopeful that it will be judged in our favour and this person will exit from our life.
I've come home for lunch and I feel exhausted and a little frustrated. I think I might like a wee nap.
