It's the end of our
Labour Day weekend - traffic
will begin to roar!

We had thunder and lightning in the wee hours of this morning. I could detect the lightning through my closed eyelids. I went back to sleep until 6:30. I was on my way to Paul Lake just before 7.
The morning light was very odd. I arrived lakeside in time to catch a dramatic sun over the lake. The shroud of clouds above the sun made it look like theatre lighting.
I didn't venture far from my parking space to find the osprey nest with a lot of activity. It appears that the adults are working as a tag team to feed two rather large offspring who sit and squawk waiting for the meals to arrive. One adult took his breakfast off to a dead tree to eat in peace.
I spied this abandoned cap along the fence line. It seems very appropriate for our Labour Day as a message to the workers of BC. We can thank labour unions for so many of the advantages we have in the work place.
Plants are coming to their end of season. Rosehips and Scotch thistle looked very pretty by the lake.
One lovely mallard duck was performing her morning ablutions. I always admire their orange feet.
I started back down the hill towards home and discovered a wrecked car I'd missed on the way up. Someone didn't make the curve and rolled the car. The yellow tape indicates police have attended so I didn't need to look any closer.
Horses were most elusive this morning. I caught a few along the fence but they weren't posing for photos this morning. I motored on and they did too.
I'm home for a short while then I'll be at the office orienting a new employee midmorning. We are so excited to have K join us.
