Shattered

I came home from a lovely relaxing facial and was making some lunch while John emptied the dishwasher He fumbled a drinking glass, it hit the floor and it didn’t just shatter. It exploded. Spike ran for cover and I stood without moving, my feet surrounded by chunks of broken glass. John got the broom and while he was sweeping I took a picture just because it was so remarkable that a drinking glass could be so quickly reduced to this.
When I saw that the challenge for today
Was crystals I decided it was meant to be.

First thing this morning a glance out the window revealed a brassy yellow sky. A sky which read it’s going to be hot! And so it came to pass. The thermometer reads 98F. To hot to spend much time outside…just long enough to rescue a few more ripe figs from the birds who seem to know when they have reached perfect ripeness before they peck a hole into it. Some, which look perfect at first glance reveal a gaping hole on the other side.

I haven’t heard anything from the feckless insurance people who seem to have lost the plot and are in the process of falling apart.
I have decided I have wasted enough head space on them and have begun the search for a more local agent. I haven’t been entirely successful in not thinking it but I’m trying….

Back at the quilt wall I decided I had better order more of a few fabrics and discovered that I may have left it too long. The place which had a huge selection of colors is now out of stock in most of them. This must be the time of year when they sell off the old color palette and introduce a new one. An hour long search yielded two of the most crucial colors, but I’ll have to be careful with what I have.

I knew the first day back to ‘normal’ after a long holiday weekend might be difficult, not that our weekends are much different than our week days but somehow the holiday feeling takes over and at least one can stop waiting for someone to call because you know they are on holiday too…,
