Stapleton and stubble

A nice eight mile walk (without the spaniel) in north Herefordshire this morning. I passed the ruins of the 12th century Stapleton Castle right on the England/Wales border. Built in the reign of King Stephen it was eventually destroyed by Royalists in 1643 to prevent its use by the Parliamentarians.
