Great Oak Street is one of the main avenues in the little market town of Llanidloes, Mid Wales.

There is a hotel, several cafes, a brilliant 'old school' book shop, antique emporiums and a regular open air market.

Llanidloes is the sort of place that often feels like it has been bypassed by the 21st century. In many respects it has, but that is why we love it so much. 

Today I mooched and spent time in and around the fantastic Railway Foundry Buildings, a blip for another day.  The history and reminders of the past are quite exceptional, if you know what to look for.

We are heading home tomorrow, a big adventure looms but we hope to be back here a bit more before the end of the holiday season.
