Granola
When I finished working from home I made granola. Exciting, huh? There WAS excitement earlier, in the form of a terrific thunderstorm with lightning. I was working, though, and just turned off the modem so it didn't get struck by lightning (this has happened before) and tried to carry on. The view of the hill opposite my study window disappeared in a white-out of rain and low cloud. Earlier, there had been three or four goldfinches pecking around on our neighbour's rooftop, looking for grubs I expect.
I'm finished now, apart from two hours or so tomorrow. Off for a week, going to Co Durham on Monday. I had a shiatsu treatment booked for tomorrow (my reward for house sitting) but it's been cancelled. Boo. And sadly, one of the patients on my list, whose brother I'd been trying to contact, died yesterday. He'd been in hospital, and we don't work with patients until they get out of that system. It was
not unexpected, but it's sobering when someone from my birth year (1964) or younger, dies. We are not all born with equal health chances.
I've finished my book, the one I blipped yesterday. That's sad, but I've ordered the sequel. I've had a sleep. I've enjoyed the shiatsu foot massager, for those that wanted to know about it. I keep it under my desk. I wish it had a detachable power cable for ease of carrying it around. Though it only massages the sole of the foot and can feel quite ticklish to begin with, I like the fact that I can move my foot around and apply pressure to different parts of the role. There's also a not-very-hot heat setting. I think it would go down well at a pamper evening, if anyone hosts those any more. One would have to put a small towel over the cloth top if it was being used by more than one or two people, because it can't be cleaned effectively. I've been thinking about this: how in the surgeries where I work, any worker can plug their laptop into a hub and then stare at a screen and use a keyboard and mouse that might have been used by lots of other people. I think I need to bring back the hated sanitiser. How quickly we forget!
