Afternoon run
As the Minx was wrapping up work for the day, I went out for my first training run in La Trench-sur-Mer.
I found a route that eschewed the roads and followed the paths through the trees. It started off wonderfully as you can see from my photo, but I need to plan a little better in future*.
Some of the paths were little more than tracks through the trees and others were wider but sandy. Really sandy. Like running on a beach.
Thus, I got my 6.8 miles in but rather slowly. Lucky today's training specified an 'easy pace'!
And in the evening we wandered into Centre Ville, which is about a mile's walk. Around half the houses have their shutters closed, and appear to be shut for the winter, although there were less like that the closer we got to town. It has the feel between a Wes Anderson movie and, as the Minx noted, Centre Parcs, not least because of the Velorue, where bikes taken precedence over cars.
Anyway, my fears that the town centre would also be closed down proved to be unfounded - lots of busy bars and restaurants - and we found a nice place to eat just above the beach.
*This could be my life's motto
