Flower Friday
We walked past these three trees last week and I thought they might be flowering cherries, today they were in full bloom. Magnolias.
I had another busy day. Groceries…walked to the shops for a car key battery and had coffee while we waited. Next we did the river walk and this afternoon I did more in the garden. The peonies are coming up so I dug around them and mulched them. They grow so quickly you need to do it as soon as they emerge. Lilies are appearing (now a few centimetres high) and iris starting to bloom. I have small white ones which are always first. They look nice in the garden but don’t really show up well in blips.
The extra is a memorial for Stephen, recently erected. We have been looking for it for a few weeks and today finally found where it is. SJ died in a car accident earlier in the year, a devastating loss for his family and large number of friends and colleagues. He was my colleague and boss when I left work. Sometimes you know people who can just about do everything and have tried everything. Once I quizzed him “ have you been to the North Pole” “ yes” , have you been to the South Pole “yes” , have you parachuted …of course….can you fly a plane, yes, have you climbed all the top mountains around the world, yes all bar Everest which was happening about Covid time and his climbing mate fell and died….
He was really fun to work with and is missed.
Does anyone follow Marionb? I heard from her today. 5 weeks since having an accident and breaking both arms. She has been transferred to a hospital closer to home but can’t do much and is strapped up in a couple of slings like a straight jacket. She needs 24/7 care. She says “I’m still hospitalised but really missing reading people’s journals and looking at the great photos”
