HOWL Do You Do?

Here we are in Cambridge Bay, population 1800 people.  It is one of Canada's northernmost villages, and an important transportation hub for cargo by sea and air.  Arctic char, caught in the rivers nearby, is the town's major export.

The intrepid Mr. W is today's guest photographer -- I was awake much of last night with a growling knee -- so here is a rather startling image of a wolf displayed in the community center!

While exploring the town, Mr. W befriended a young local lad named Brady who is about 15 years old.  Brady told about his first driving experience when his uncle allowed him to take the wheel of his pickup truck.  Naturally Mr. W then showed young Brady pictures of his race car, and a bond was immediately formed!  That's Brady posing on a superduper ice racing machine outside the Visitor Center, also in the extra:  A rare pink-tongued Polar Bear, a Musk Ox sculpture made by local teenagers from scrap metal, and the Canadian High Arctic Research Station, where climate and local flora and fauna are studied.
