Beside the seaside
Just as the forecast forecast we woke to heavy mist down to the ground. OK, the forecast said 'Cloudy', but it was similar!
Opening the front door, the stink from yesterday was still quite strong, but my neighbour saw me and came down his chopped rhododendron bank. I asked him if he had any idea where the smell came from and he admitted to spilling a load of heating oil the previous day, most of it over himself! He apologised, but I agreed that the wind would disperse it in time.
I came out a little later and saw that he was spraying the rhododendron regrowth with a very fine mist of weedkiller - I could plainly see the spray blowing in my direction! I had to ask him to use a coarser spray, but in the absence of anything useful he agreed to use a watering can and rose. I hope he does or the result could be disastrous!
After lunch the sun came out, but as it was still too smelly to sit outside we retired again to Dungallen Park along Gallanach Road, as we had done yesterday, but as the breeze was getting up we found somewhere a little more sheltered further along. Not quite the same view, but still beautiful - my Blip today - the island of Kerrera and the Hutchison Monument across the water with the hills of Morvern behind it, and the keep of the old Dunollie Castle to the right. Later on as the sun went in and the breeze increased we drove through the town to Poppies Garden Centre for tea and cake - a different view from here, but still water and yachts!
