Coleraine

We are staying in Coleraine for a few days.  George Stewart Black, my great great grandfather was born here in 1815 and spent his boyhood days here until immigrating to the U.S.  In 1884 he wrote of these days and talked about walking the paths to MountSandel where, on a clear day he could see Scotland, the Giants Causeway, the Dunluce Castle, and more closely, over the treetops, the River Bann and the church steeples of Coleraine.

Today, Gina and I walked the upper trail and because of much higher treetops and most importantly, very miserable weather, saw none of this  It was cool to walk the same paths that have been traveled for hundreds of years.

The coffee shop was great, and in the extras see the ionic structure of the city, and the Dunluce Castle.  Port Stewart and Portrush were overrun with visitors today to see an airshow, that was most likely cancelled due to wind, some rain, and heavy fog.
