Wattle and Bean
The weather has been wonderful today - sunny 18C - and both my garden and K's have provided me a happy day's occupation.
It has mostly been weeding: clearing beds which were rather neglected when my back was bad. It is such a relief to be catching up.
The bed in which the potatoes will be grown has been fallow for the last two years and the soil looks absolutely beautiful: black and friable. I'll top it up with compost this week, then I think it'll grow some spectacular spuds in the coming season.
Bean and I walked to Paradise Gully Road where she posed impatiently beneath one of the blooming wattle trees. What an incredible splash of yellow.
She was impatient because - unbeknownst to me - a hare was waiting to be chased just around the corner. She went after it at full tilt and returned five minutes laster from the opposite direction, panting and wagging. Goodness knows where the hare went to ground, but it was somewhere Bean-proof. There has been quite a lot of drinking and resting since that excitement.
