My friends cats
I went round in the evening to eat. Their cats are a brother and sister- very gentle and loving together. Luckily I had a bit of a cuddle with each, as I’m missing Portia:)
In the day I went for a gorgeous walk along the coast path from Stromness to Warebeth. Grey skies, but no rain. In the collage:
the Hamnavoe never rests. Here it is coming back to Orkney from Scrabster, having already been across once this morning. Hoy in the background.
A novel tourist attraction - a horse and trap journey with added history - one person driving and one person on the back telling the visitors all about what they’re seeing
Lots of montbretia, stone walls and lichen to be seen
Looking back along one of the beaches - I saw oystercatchers, redshank, swallows, gannets, sparrows, groups of starlings, dunlin (or possibly sanderlings - not quite sure). My friends have seen otters here so you can imagine I was paying attention for them:) Also an official sea-watching local naturalist was watching for Orca which are sometimes seen
I went past the Warebeth cemetery, which has masses of monuments and gravestones. I took this of what looked to be the oldest
More lichen on the stone wall. I liked the method of laying the top stones at an angle
My friend M came halfway with me, then headed home. There is no doubt that her partner F is really poorly, sadly. She’s done two covid tests, so I was able to visit in the evening, but she has some kind of ear and throat infection and feels wretched:-(
